TAKE A HEALTH PROFESSIONAL TO THE PEOPLE DAY 2017
Take a Health Professional to the People Day (TADay) is a health promotion and educational event coordinated by the University of Pittsburgh Center for Health Equity (CHE) in partnership with five African American barbershops in Pittsburgh. It is a community-based program conducted in April during National Minority Health Month.
This year TADay will occur on Friday, April 21, 2017, from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
All types of health professionals are needed—doctors (primary care and specialists), nurses, dentists, social workers, health educators, pharmacists, psychologists, nutritionists, health science students, and human service providers. The CHE encourages you to volunteer at least one hour of time at a barbershop to: 1) educate community members about ways to improve their health and prevent chronic disease; 2) provide health screenings (blood pressure, oral screening, HIV, blood sugar, etc.) and 3) distribute your health resources (health literature, research study flyers, freebies, etc.). Please join us!
Registration for TADay will close at noon on Monday, April 17, 2017.
